Remaining Safe at Your home
I have spent a lot of time speaking with a lot of home owners about the security in their home. I am working to gain some insight on the different ways that our homes become at risk. One of the things I asked everyone was if they had ever experienced any suspicious activity on their property. A burglary, a broken window, a suspicious person – anything. I was surprised that almost every single person had at least one story to tell. Most of their stories eventually led them to buy a security system. I have heard that Home Security in KS is a choice that people people have gone with.
One gentleman informed me that he was home for the afternoon, but left to go pick his son up from baseball practice. When he and his son returned home approximately twenty minutes later, one of his windows was broken and a few things were missing from inside. He suspected that he was being watched, and the burglar knew when he left. A different mother of three explained to me that she once opened the door to a man who claimed to be a salesman. After the man finished speaking, he then asked if he could talk it over with her inside. She said no thanks, and he again replied by asking if he could still come inside and use her phone. Considering he was being so persistent, she declined again and shut the door.
We have all had encounters with suspicious situations and people. Some experiences are worse than others, like the first man’s experience. The information I am researching will help me determine what encourages people to purchase a burglar alarm. The second woman said she quickly decided to get one the next day.
I have learned about tons of identical stories from other people. You never really know what can happen on a given day. I am positive these people did not wake up and think something unusual would happen later that day. It really emphasizes the value in always being prepared.
